Individual Team Portraits

Guidelines and Details Regarding Individual Portraits

This is a fundraiser with the net proceeds being shared by Gower Estates Pool, Inc.and the Swim Team with photographs being taken by Ben Mullinax. Ben has been our "unofficial" team photographer over the past several years.

Just a few words from Ben,
"I enjoy seeing the excitement and intensity on our swimmers’ faces as they compete.  Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to capture every swimmer in a meaningful photograph.  It is difficult to capture swimmers in later events since the light has faded.  The meet officials’ and coaches’ locations preclude the best positions for many events.  Finally, while I try my best to honor specific requests from parents, the logistics and “luck of the lane” often keep me from photographing a swimmer.  We decided we would try this option to give people an opportunity to get photographs that reflect our swimmers at their best. "

  • Photos will be distributed and available on a public website.

Suggestions for Good Portraits
  • Swim team attire
  • Wear a swim cap if necessary to keep hair from covering the eyes.
  • Goggles are fine. Clear goggles allow the eyes to be seen.  Even dark or reflective goggles are preferable to closed eyes!
  • If you are using a Gower Swim cap, avoid using one with a printed date earlier than 2008 or 2009.
